Job Description: The Senior Electrical Systems Engineer - Solar Trackers is a hybrid role (3x per week onsite) that will be based at our headquarters in Fremont, California.In this position, you will report to the Senior Systems Engineering Manager.Here is a glimpse of what you will do:Become an expert about the solar industry and Nextracker hardware and software productsSupport the tracker design, including functional block diagrams, interface definitions and system-level requirement development to ensure design robustness, safety, and reliabilityPerform technical trade studies and cost analysis of design solutionsBuild high-fidelity analytical models of electrical and mechanical components; integrate them into system-level models that can simulate and predict performance and operationGather, process, and analyze field data and factory test data to guide the investigation and resolution of service anomalies and improve future productsProvide guidance and feedback to the Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware and Software teams and other company functions through the development cycle to bring new products from concept to marketRegularly communicate with the Product Management organization to understand the product needs and translate them into engineering requirements and design solutionsManage system level requirements across the product lifecycleCreate and implement test plans to debug and validate designs to meet functional and performance goalsParticipate in system level design and process FMEAs to ensure design robustness, safety, and reliabilityHere is some of what you will need (required):BS/MS in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or equivalent5+ years project design experience in utility-scale solar power plants or equivalent, from concept through construction to as-built documentsExperience with renewable grid integration and smart grid deploymentStrong eye toward safety, constructability, and system maintenance, not just what works on paperExperience performing trade studies and lifecycle cost analysisFamiliarity operating in a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional environmentProven ability to work independently and on teamsHere are a few of our preferred experiences:Professional Engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering (licensed in California is preferred)Knowledge of applicable renewable energy and electrical codes and standardsSystem-level design and integrationWriting product requirement specifications, verification plans and test plansFMEA, root cause analysis, investigation of service anomalies Why Join Nextracker: Innovative Environment: Be part of a team that's at the forefront of revolutionizing solar energy technology.
