We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Southwark to assist with the appointment of a Senior Education Welfare Officer on a 3-month contract , likely to be extended at clients discretion. Summary: To provide an effective and targeted education inclusion service in a specialist team within Southwarks Family Early Help service and delivering upon the Councils Fairer Future promises in supporting children, young people and their families. To work in partnership with parents, young people and schools to ensure that all children of compulsory school age access education. To provide timely and effective screening and backssment for young people backssed as being at risk of exclusion, ensuring that appropriate support and intervention is secured at the earliest opportunity using a Team Around the Family approach. To conduct attendance investigations where necessary and provide expert advice and consultation to schools, Family Early Help practitioners and social workers where the threshold for enforcement action is met and in preparing cases for the education legal planning process. Responsibilities: To hold regular consultation surgeries for Family Early Help Practitionerswho have families who meet the threshold for enforcement action forpersistent non-attendance, including co-location on specified days asdirected by the Education Inclusion Team manager or Family Early Help Service manager. To support Family Early Help procedures in relation to the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and Team Around the School (TAS) procedures, including attendance at the latter. To contribute to the identifying, capture, recording and dissemination ofgood practice models of effective whole school attendance policies andworking practices. To provide swift and easy access to expert advice, support andguidance in relation to attendance and inclusion via the educationinclusion duty telephone service...
