Overview Senior Business Analyst, Healthcare - Stony Brook Children's Service, UFPC Location: Stony Brook, NY (Onsite) Schedule: Full Time Days/Hours: Monday - Friday - 8:30am to 5pm (Variable hours as needed) Salary Range: $72,837.44 - $93,039.44 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education) Our compensation philosophy aims to provide marketable compensation programs and to compensate employees based on relevant experience and education. Individual compensation discussions begin during the hiring process and may occur during job review and promotional opportunities. Salaries vary depending on experience, education and current market for the position. Human Resources determines the external and internal equitable salary for each employee. Responsibilities SUMMARY: The Senior Analyst gathers financial information, analyzes that information, and prepares reports for the Department Administrator and departmental leadership to make recommendations. The Senior Analyst will assist the Department Administrator in managing the financial aspects of the department's research, educational, strategic, and other financial activities across all locations. Assist in operational data analysis, budgeting function, department specific financial reporting and planning, and other functions as required. Job Duties & Essential Functions: Works with department administrators in developing and managing the department's operating budget submission to ensure reasonability, consistency with operating trends, and compliance with budget guidelines. Prepares various budget analyses including: Managing the organization's key performance indicators and performance measurements at the department level for pediatric specialties. Interprets monthly department specific financial results (actual vs budget analysis), identifying trends as well as opportunities and risks in salaries, expenses, and overtime. Works with managers to ensure that expenses are accurately charged to appropriate areas so that information is properly reflected in monthly financial and responsibility statements. Management, reconciliation, and accounting of grants and funding to ensure proper transactions and deposits into appropriate accounts. Provide key financial metrics, and benchmark analyses that support critical business strategic and operating decisions. Responsible for the financial coordination and management of departmental research budgets. Oversee the control of expense reimbursement (physician/staff) and approvals of POs within budget and policies. Provide direction and guidance to department staff and faculty regarding financial policies and procedures (Procurement, Reimbursement, Financial Accountability, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or a related field. In lieu of a degree will consider four years of full-time experience in accounts payable, budgeting, and financial reporting/analytics. 3 years full time experience in accounts payable, budgeting, financial reporting/analytics. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Advanced Excel (including arrays, lookup, pivot tables, and charts) Excellent written and oral communication skills Commitment to excellence and high standards Attention to detail. Ability to manage priorities and workflow with minimal supervision Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm Ability to work with all levels of management Preferred Qualifications: Project management experience. Healthcare knowledge or experience Experience with P&L statements in an academic setting. Information technology collaboration experience. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
