The Senior Associate Attorney will play a vital role in providing legal representation and support to clients navigating familial legal matters, focusing on divorce, child custody, spousal support, adoption, and other family law issues. Responsibilities include managing a caseload, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, representing clients in court, engaging in client counseling, and participating in negotiation sessions. Duties:Manage a caseload of family law and divorce cases, including conducting legal research and drafting various legal documents such as petitions, motions, and settlement agreementsRepresent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials, advocating for their interests in family law mattersEngage in client counseling, providing guidance on legal rights, responsibilities, and potential outcomes related to family law and divorceParticipate in negotiation sessions to reach settlements or engage in alternative dispute resolution methods like mediationCollaborate with the Regional Managing Attorney, contributing to a supportive work environment and mentoring legal professionalsTravel to courts and proceedings throughout central New York State, with some travel to Albany and Saratoga Springs locations as requiredAchieve the billable hour requirement set by the firm and work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate client billing Requirements:Membership in good standing with the New York State Bar, memberships in other State Bars advantageous5+ years of family or matrimonial law experience and/or general litigation experience preferredPrior experience in private law firms, corporate, or government settings desirableProficiency in managing sensitive legal matters such as divorce, child custody, domestic violence, and matrimonial disputesDeep understanding of the New York Family Court Act and Domestic Relations LawExcellent writing, editing, and proofreading skillsStrong organizational skills, follow-through, and flexibility in handling changing priorities and deadlinesAbility to advocate effectively in court and office settings, managing high-stress litigation matters with composure Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school Benefits:Competitive salary and incentive plan401(k) retirement plan with matchingHealth, dental, vision/Rx, pet, and life insurance policy optionsPaid time off, including 7 personal days, 7 paid holidays, and a summer Friday programOpen-door leadership philosophyProfessional, diverse, inclusive, respectful, and friendly workplace environmentOngoing legal training for attorneys and legal support staffCollaborative team atmosphereSummer Friday schedulesFocus on work-life balanceCareer advancement opportunities
