Senior Accountant

Corbion is seeking a Senior Accountant accustomed to handling challenging and/or high-volume accounts. In this role, you will complete bank reconciliations, tax filings, general ledger activities, accruals and adjustments, identify sources of discrepancies and seek resolution. The ideal candidate is growth oriented, understands the required strict confidentiality of proprietary financial information, and able to prioritize their workload throughout the month to ensure deadlines are met. This role is a hybrid role based at our office in Lenexa, KS and reports to the Sr Tax/Treasury Manager. Responsibilities: Timely and accurately closing of the monthly financial books. This includes reviewing and documenting variances for management to ensure no omissions or errors in the transactions for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements. Record accurate manual journal entries in accordance to GAAP, IFRS and Corbion internal controls, supported by proper source documents. Prepare daily bank reconciliations, balance monthly intercompany transactions, and support all required government filings, including but not limited to tax reporting and census surveys. Review and post journal entries from Plant Operations accounting team appropriately. Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled monthly. Variances are researched and resolved timely. Answer email/phone inquiries from internal and external customers in timely and professional manner. Work closely and communicate with other departments (Operations, Sales, Customer Service, etc.) to understand the business and ensure that there are no surprises during close. Ensure pre-planning with other departments happens regularly for month end close. Support internal and external audits as required. Initiate automation whenever deemed fit to the manual processes. This can include special projects, implementation, analysis from systems, acquisitions and divestitures. Participate in team events to foster cohesive team spirit. Operate responsibly and comply with company policies at all times. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or progress toward completion is preferred 3+ years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of general ledger practices and GAAP/IFRS compliance Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software and various accounting systems/ databases; SAP experience is a plus Proven analytical, organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines Strong verbal and written communication skills Detail oriented, with ability to analyze and research account variances About Corbion Corbion is the global market leader in lactic acid and its derivatives, and a leading supplier of emulsifiers, functional enzyme blends, minerals, vitamins, and algae ingredients.
