**$5,000 SIGN ON BONUS** Purpose The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the accounting department. The Senior Accountant will work under the general supervision of the CFO and will interact with Finance and Operations staff to gather data and information as required. The general responsibilities of this position include purchasing, general ledger maintenance, financial and other reporting, and schedules for audits. Also responsible for day-to-day management of all other accounting functions including purchasing, for reviewing and approving reports, reconciliations and postings prepared by other accounting staff. The position coordinates preparation of monthly financial reports, assists in the development of accounting policies and procedures, oversees the purchasing process, and participates or assists in the annual budget preparation process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains accurate and complete accounting records in accordance with PHC's policies and procedures, internal controls, federal guidelines, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Responsible for oversight of the purchasing operations of PHC. Assures the completion of all components of monthly financial statements, including necessary analysis. Assures reconciliation of cash accounts to include operations, savings, and investments. Reviews and posts transaction entries prepared by other accounting staff. Assures completion of reconciliation of monthly operating statements. Maintains general ledger, including preparing financial schedules and writing journal entries for such items as interest income, prepaids, and payables. Coordinate with CFO for preparation of monthly financial reports. Ensures payroll and employee benefits adhere to employee benefit policies established by Human Resources. Under the direction of the CFO, maintains internal controls including that of inventory, procurement, payroll, receipts, disbursements and other processes. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of daily cash management reporting. Assists with financial aspects of grants and contracts and ensures financial requirements . Prepares monthly and quarterly grant reports due to state agencies and foundation and will assist with the development of budgets for grant applications. Prepares invoices for contracts. Prepares Personnel Activity Reports and prepares journal entries to move salary and benefit expenses into the appropriate matching grant. Collaborates with CFO for quarterly and year-end financial activities and the annual audit. Responsible for employee performance to include staff development, goal setting, and staff development. Must maintain strong relationships with direct report(s). Possess strong employee relationships. Work with CFO on Budget to actual monthly variance analysis reporting. Work with Director of Revenue Cycle and Patient Access to ensure financial accuracy with reporting for best practices. Implement new processes and protocols as become necessary and assigned. Stay abreast of financial regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring timely staff education and inform staff of any changes or developments. Maintain all records in compliance to FQHC, Promise Healthcare's accounting principles, policies and procedures and internal financial controls and initiatives. Experience with computerized accounting system - SAGE Intact preferred Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel. Will assist with special projects, reports, data gathering and analysis. Attend meetings as required and other duties as required. Qualifications BA/BS in Business Administration or equivalent years of experience required. Master's degree strongly preferred. (One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education) 2-5 years of progressively responsible finance experience in a non-profit healthcare environment to include demonstrated knowledge of accounting, grants and third-party payers, and auditing principles. Experience in Medical/Dental/Behavioral Health billing preferred. NextGen software experience preferred. FQHC background is strongly preferred Willingness to work collaboratively is necessary. Must treat highly confidential information with the highest level of integrity. Must maintain a high degree of efficiency and accuracy in a demanding environment Must be highly organized and deadline focused. Must maintain professionalism and courteous demeanor even in stressful situations. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required. Work Environment Work is primarily onsite, Full time Monday - Friday Language Skills Bilingual (Spanish/English or English/French) language preferred but not required.
