Position Overview: Assists the Director of Finance by performing routine and non-routine accounting functions, monthly financial statement preparation, provides support for the Fixed Asset and Patient Billing functions, journal entries, financial analysis, annual audit and cost report workpapers, and various tasks as assigned. Essential Functions : a) Provides financial statement preparation support, assists with routine accounting functions, i.e. journal entries, general ledger accounts reconciliation. b) As assigned, assumes responsibility for property, plant, and equipment reporting and the interfaces between the Patient Billing and General Ledger modules. c) Prepares annual audit work papers and assists Independent Auditors with compilation of data. Assists with compilation of annual Medicare Cost report work papers. d) As assigned, prepares monthly Colorado Hospital Association statistics, San Juan Healthcare Foundation financial statements, grant and gift shop accounting. e) Analyzes variances within the financial statements, account reconciliations, and bank statements. As assigned, provides training and task oversight to staff accountant. f) Performs routine and non-routine accounting functions as assigned. g) Other tasks as assigned. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Qualifications & Skills: a) Education: Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting. b) Training & Experience: Five or more years prior accounting and financial experience. c) Job Knowledge: Analytical ability, familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, working knowledge of Microsoft computer software programs, 10-key by touch, ability to work well with other departments.
