Disability Services strives to foster partnerships with students, faculty, and staff to create environments that are accessible, diverse, and inclusive.About the Position:Reporting to the Associate Director of Disability Services. The Sr. Access Consultant provides case management to students, determines reasonable and appropriate accommodations and services to which the students are entitled to under the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, with a focus on Law School and Housing accommodations. The Sr. Access Consultant interacts with faculty, parents, students, and healthcare providers; serves on university committees representing disability issues and concerns; and engages in activities that promote campus accessibility and awareness. This position is primarily at the Fairfax campus and could be on the Mason Square campus.Responsibilities: * Accommodations: Creates, adjusts, and evaluates individual accommodation plans for students (i.e. Law School, Housing, Academic). Works collaboratively to develop and implement best practices in promoting inclusive design, determining and providing reasonable accommodations, and assessing the efficacy of accommodations. Work with faculty, staff, and other University personnel in appropriately accommodating students with disabilities; * Campus Outreach and Partnerships: Collaborates with and advises faculty, staff, students, and others in the delivery of services. Assists with building an inclusive environment that supports the growth of students, staff, and faculty with disabilities through advocacy and institutional intervention to support diversity on campus through training and educational workshops. May serve as DS representative on university multi-disciplinary teams/committees (e.g. Housing Committee); * Serves as a Lead Access Consultant for Housing and Law School requests; and * Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * A master's degree in special education, counseling, a social services field, or another related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education equal to an advanced degree; * Experience determining and developing ADA-related accommodations in an educational setting (typically obtained in three or more years); * Demonstrated working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and its amendments; * Knowledge of accommodations in the Higher Education setting; * Ability to collaborate and communicate with university stakeholders; * Ability to create presentations and present to stakeholders and partners; * Ability to provide accommodations in Higher Education; and * Ability to work effectively both collaboratively in a group and/or independently with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with the educational objective of Law School; and * Experience determining and developing housing accommodations on a college campus and Law School accommodations.
