Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I hope everyone here in Austin (and Texas!) is staying warm and safe. I've lived here my entire life, and NOTHING like this has ever happened before! I'm an almost 37 year-old, doctorally-prepared nurse practitioner, currently not working for the past several years to stay home with our absolutely wonderful nearly 4 year-old daughter. My husband is an intellectual property litigator with a large firm here in town, and works quite a bit. He is home to work quite a bit, but occasionally goes in to the office with the other section partner (socially distanced from each other). My daughter attends a church day-school four days per week from 9:00-1:00 with three other children, and we are all tested for COVID regularly. We haven't had a single case since we began school a year ago. We are on a waiting list to get vaccinated, but aren't yet--full disclosure. Nonetheless, we are a very low-risk, intentionally minimal-risk family, and I'm posting because I'm in need of a daytime "mother's helper" during the week. I'm working on some research publications and other writing, and am basically with only very little support during the week (my husband is generally gone from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM). I'm seeking a reliable, kind individual who enjoys spending time with children (playing, practicing pre-K educational activities, art activities, etc.) to help me several hours per day (times are somewhat flexible), generally while I am at home or running quick errands close to where we live. Our daughter is (I can truly say this without bias) the sweetest, funniest, easiest little girl in the world. We've never tried anything like this before, however, and have unfortunately had some bad luck with reliability and trustworthiness with the few babysitters we've had over in the past. As a life-long UT graduate--undergrad through doctorate--I would love to have an undergraduate or graduate student "join" our family and who would like some extra cash; we pay generously and can certainly discuss that further based on contingent experiences and skills, along with your specific availability in general. Child development, psychology, nursing, education, and social work majors are a plus but not at all required. I've taught at UT-Austin and love mentoring students, and am also absolutely in a position to write recommendation letters for graduate school applications, edit CV's, etc. depending on the success of our working relationship.
