Security Technician - All Shifts, Shift and Weekend Differentials, and $1,000 Sign-on Bonus Location: Punta Gorda, FL Charlotte Behavioral Health Care's (CBHC) is our area's largest not-for-profit provider of community-based behavioral health care, offering a full range of mental health and substance use services in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, North Port, Sarasota, and DeSoto and Lee Counties. Last year, we served over 11,000 individuals and families. CBHC's mission is to partner with our patients to instill hope, inspire growth, and embrace life. CBHC strives to provide compassionate care to individuals with mental health or substance use disorders through a variety of programs. Our goal is optimal behavioral health and improved quality of life for all children, adolescents, adults, and families Position Summary The Central Receiving Facility (CRF) provides assessment and treatment services 24/7. The CRF is a 30-bed inpatient facility with separate adult and children's units designed to serve those who are experiencing an acute mental health or substance use crisis and in immediate need of crisis and stabilization service, voluntarily or involuntarily. The treatment team provides individualized, structured treatment plans and therapeutic activities to individuals. Once stabilized, the team works to connect the individual and family to follow-up services. The Security Technician responds to their supervisor, the charge nurse on duty, and the lead technician in order to continually monitor safety and interact appropriately with all adult and child patients at the CRF. Ensure safety is the first priority and be the first to respond in a crisis situation. Must be able to redirect unsafe behavior in a firm, yet respectful and calm manner Participate in verbal de-escalation and use CBHC approved interventions, as trained. Participate in Seclusion and Restraint, when necessary. Also responsible for routine tasks around the unit as requested by supervisor Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum one (1) year experience in behavioral health (mental health or substance use treatment) Must be able to manage stressful situations and display appropriate work demeanor and boundaries Must be able to complete a satisfactory demonstration of physical ability to perform essential job duties designed solely to determine ability to perform physical duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, after acceptance of position. Must be able to successfully complete and certify in Handle with Care training for all levels Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures Ability to pass Level II Background clearance, drug test (CBHC is a drug free workplace) Strong oral and written communication skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Valid FL driver's license, insurance, and safe driving record Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.) To achieve our mission, we must rely on highly skilled, engaged staff.
