Department: Engineering Cross Function Location: Mobile Travel Required : up to 10% (including international) Position Summary: The Seats Development Engineer (Contract) will apply considerable knowledge of principles, theories, concepts, industry practices and standards to deliver high quality design engineering solutions while assuring procedural compliance within assigned engineering project teams. Primary Responsibilities: Responsible to deliver fully qualified seat designs that meets the technical, weight, schedule , quality and cost targets of the Program Manage the General Requirements for Equipment & System Suppliers (GRESS) deliverables for the program, including determining the applicable GRESS items for seats, maintaining the action item log, aggressively pursuing action holders to close actions, and providing complete transparency to stakeholders. Prepare and lead Initial Technical Coordination Meetings (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR) and major milestone meetings with Airline Customers, Suppliers all relevant stakeholders per development milestones. Define/Validate Interfaces to the aircraft including development of customized modules installation requirements (including validation of both structural and system interfaces). Validate module interface points and update Customized Technical Specifications as appropriate. Analyze Change Requests designs based on customer, manufacturing and/or design requirements. Guide and perform qualification and verification and validation of seats including release of the Declaration of Design Performance (DDP). Ensure that the design is fully certified and all the necessary data for validation, test and certification delivered is in accordance with Program milestones. Initiate, monitor and manage Supplier Improvements and Transformation Projects to drive performance and to ensure supplier's compliance to Airbus requirements and processes. Develop supplier performance KPIs, identify risk and opportunities and prepare Supplier Performance Ratings for Corporate Reviews Create solutions to identify supplier organization and process improvements. Support Procurement in developing or updating new contracts, and the Extended Enterprise team in supplier technical assessment and DOA criticality Provide a clear communication link between the vendor(s) and the Airbus team. Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Minimum 7 years' experience within the aviation industry with at least 3 years' experience in aircraft cabin engineering and/or seat development process, and knowledge of associated seat design, certification and qualification requirements Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to plan, direct and document meetings between Airbus, suppliers and customers Must have the ability to be motivated and work in diverse teams Demonstrated capability in Project and Stakeholder Management Familiar with Quality process improvement processes and toolkits (Practical Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, etc) Experienced in CAD Design and proficient in Catia V4/V5 preferred Familiar with Google Suite Products (Docs/Slides/Sheets/etc) Education / Special Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (B.S) from a four year college or university in engineering or similar related subject area is normally required or equivalent education and experience. This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
