PURPOSE: Prepare and stack the filled product containers onto the pallets meeting customer specifications for storage and shipment. To provide assistance to the Low Moisture Packaging Operator, having a full working knowledge of the equipment operation. SUMMARY: Provide assistance to the Low Moisture Packaging Operator. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action. This is a representative sample--not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks. Assist Operator to Ensure Process is Set-up to Meet Customer Specifications: Ensure machinery/equipment is working correctly and ready for production. Ensure equipment settings are correct for products according to specifications and startup settings. Check and calibrate scales as necessary. Check boxes, liners, plastic bags, and labels to ensure they are correct. Ensure labels have required item numbers, day codes, etc. Communicate Effectively: Exchange information with LM Packaging Operator, Supervisors, Quality Techs, co-workers. Assist Maintenance & Supervisor in investigating foreign material for origin Notify Mechanic when problems occur. Prepare Box for Palletizing: Compress product when necessary and Label container. Seal liner as required. Tape boxes as required. Affix label as required per unit. Ensure proper labeling on boxes. Assist in the Ongoing Operation the Low Moisture Packaging and Puff Areas Adjust flake roll thickness, calcium stearate, Nitrogen. Ensure proper belt tracking and maintain cleanliness of belts. Ensure oilers and machinery are functioning properly. Check scales and sealer to ensure proper functioning. Change Sweco screens as required. Ensure Bag house system is working properly. Operate and monitor the case erector, bag inserter, and Powell auto-filler. Operate and monitor the K& R box former, bag inserter and case detector - ensuring that rejects are correctly dealt with. Ensure adequate supplies available in the packaging area Ensure puff tunnel is charged and maintained at proper PPM Verify CCP's and communicate to lab, mechanics, operators, supervisors Ensure waste is removed Assist Operator in the Monitoring and Controlling Product Quality Attributes to Meet Customer Specifications: Inspect product lines to ensure compliance with GMPs/HACCP. Maintain clean and organized workstation at all times. Blend in rework products when directed by supervisor. Contribute to Team Effort: Assist co-workers when possible Demonstrate teamwork Industrial and Food Safety Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures/standards Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts - Report to supervisor on shift Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Required: Forklift Certification OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Employee must have training and/or certification in the following: Forklift Operation Employee may require additional training and/or certification in the following: Confined Space Fall Protection PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in proximity to moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in outside extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, etc.) The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.
