Silicon Valley International School seeks a dependable School Bus Driver to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, between different campuses and extracurricular events (as required), following a specific route, and ensuring the safety of all passengers. As a School Bus Driver, you will conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good condition, adhere to safety and traffic regulations during the journey, and maintain order and discipline among students on board. Effective communication with students, parents, and school staff is also expected, including providing excellent customer service and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise. The successful candidate will have at least a year of experience as a school bus driver. This position requires drivers to follow a split shift schedule from Monday to Friday, which may be subject to change due to operational requirements. It should be noted that during mandatory training periods, the candidates' days off may be adjusted to accommodate scheduled training courses, which may take place on weekends or evenings. In summary, a School Bus Driver plays a critical role in providing safe and reliable transportation for students, ultimately contributing to their overall school experience. We are pleased to offer a competitive salary and benefits based on education, experience, and full accreditation. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. It is mandatory that all candidates be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have obtained at least one booster. However, exceptions may be granted for individuals with disabilities or those who hold strict religious beliefs; non-compliance may result in disqualification from the selection process. Primary Responsibilities Under supervision, operate a school bus on designated routes to transport school children and perform related work as required. Specific Duties Include: Operate a school shuttle bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules Pick up and discharge school children and/or school employees safely according to transportation rules Transport students and/or teachers on field trips to various locations, following the scheduled route and using best judgment to make necessary detours to achieve the scheduled departure and arrival times. Pre/Post trip inspections are required and assist in maintaining the bus in safe operating condition Maintain clean exterior and interior of the bus(es). Keep a record of mileage, fuel, and oil, and prepare reports of driving hazards and incidents Provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code are applicable to the operation of vehicles transporting school children. First aid practices Essential Skills Include the Ability to: Safe driving practices Understand and carry out oral and written directions Operate a school bus exercising good judgment and extreme caution Maintain order among students on the school bus. Communicate student behavioral issues to the Principal and Director of Transportation. Learn a designated bus route, bus stops, and district traffic hazards Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work. Qualifications , Licenses, and Certificates One year of experience as a school bus driver is required. Must have and maintain a Valid California Commercial Driver's License, Class A or B, with Passenger Endorsement. Current California Special Driver Certificate, valid for driving school buses. The current DMV-approved medical certificate (renewed every 2 years) is Current approved First Aid card, if applicable (i.e., restriction 6 on Special Driver Certificate) and CPR. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally Compensation Silicon Valley International School provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the school reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Competitive salary and benefits are based on education, experience, and full accreditation. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000.
