ACCOUNT MANAGER - SALES "K" Line America, Inc. (KAM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, a multi-billion dollar international ocean transportation company serving businesses worldwide. We are seeking a qualified and motivated candidate to serve as an Account Manager - Car Carrier Sales at the company's North American Headquarters in Glen Allen, Virginia. This position contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all tasks as follows: Responsibilities: Reports to AVP, Car Carrier Sales, Richmond; working as part of the KAM North America Car Carrier and RORO Sales team. Will work out of KAM Richmond office covering the Northeast Territory. Direct business to business sales, telephone sales and email contacts with Car Carrier clients and prospective accounts; functions as an intermediary between your customers and KAM internal teams to ensure peak service levels. Generate new opportunities and convert existing business into new growth opportunities. Win trust and build credibility as a trusted advisor to all customer stakeholders. Interact courteously, promptly, and professionally with internal departments to satisfy customer issues and/or process exceptions to normal guidelines (including, but not limited to shipping, pricing, scheduling, credit, and accounting). Analyze ocean freight rates against all-inclusive competitor offers and formulate persuasive recommendations within KAM and to foreign TMD offices that will induce them to provide rates and service levels commensurate with market. Regularly visit accounts, constant phone canvassing for potential shipments including existing and potential customers. Will use Market Data Tools (iPiers, IHS, Datamyne etc.) to extract customer data for sales efforts. Expected to interface with customers & facilitate periodic business reviews to ensure alignment of customers' KPI's and propose process improvement solutions. Must be able to effectively drive customer relationship development. Requirements: Bachelor's degree required. Knowledge of RORO or Car Carrier is preferred. Exceptional ability to multitask and interact with external business partners, vendors, and internal KAM teams. Must demonstrate strong written communication skills, be able to write concise emails & reports while keeping up with a heavy volume of communication from internal and external clients. Extraordinary sense of urgency when completing tasks, transactions, and resolving issues Ability to work independently and be highly self-motivating. Must have valid driver's license, acceptable driving record subject to a driving record check and ability to obtain business rated personal auto insurance as per KAM standards, reliable transportation, professional presentation and willing to travel. Firm understanding of NVOCC and Freight Forwarding rules/relationships preferred. Familiarity with manufacturers preferred but not required.
