Looking for an exciting and rewarding career in commercial construction? We're seeking Safety Manager candidates for construction projects based in our Lansing, Michigan region. This role will require local travel and have safety responsibilities over job sites in the Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo regions. To be considered for this position, candidates must have experience in construction safety management and a passion for team-based planning and problem-solving. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a degree in Safety (or related field) and/or a professional certification in Safety. Position Summary The Safety Manager position is responsible for ensuring safe working conditions and that our safety policies are being practiced at our project sites. In addition to ensuring best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met. Basic Duties & Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Review and inspect working practices on our project sites to ensure safe conditions. Coordinate with the Safety director and project superintendents to ensure safe work conditions and compliance with our safety program. Respond to project related safety concerns raised by our workforce. Conduct safety orientations and periodic training for new employees. Investigate injuries and safety related incidents that occur with our workforce. Promote our safety culture to our workforce, partners and clientele. Develop site specific safety plans and material to support project teams and client requests. Participate in the corporate safety committee. This role routinely uses personal protective equipment, standard office equipment such as computers, smartphones, iPads, photocopiers, video conferencing and presentation screens. Expected Hours of Work This position regularly requires flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities and unpredictable events. Occasional unscheduled overtime, night shift and weekend support is required. The position requires the employee to be on call to support project teams while operations are ongoing. This may include nights, weekends and holidays. Travel Travel to project sites is required to review working conditions. The majority of travel is confined to the greater Michigan area and occasionally requires overnight stays. Overnight travel out of state may periodically be required. Required Education and Experience 2-5 years Working Experience in Construction Safety Working knowledge of construction safety and health standards to help advise project teams and ensure regulatory compliance. OSHA 510 OSHA 30 (construction) First Aid & CPR Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Construction management, Civil Engineering or have other relevant course work or years of work experience in related job field.
