Background: Founded in 1975, Mid-State started out as a Machine Shop with 15 employees servicing mostly Phosphate industry. Today, Mid-State Industrial Services employees over 900 people serving the Phosphate, Chemical, Power, Citrus, Sand & Aggregate, and many other industries by offering turnkey solutions including field maintenance, fabrication, dragline repair, machining, pump repair, gearbox repair, and valve repair. MS is equipped with industry experts, 200,000 square foot of shop space, and overhead crane capacity up to 35 tons allowing MS to meet all of our clients' needs. Essential Duties & Requirements Include: Assist in development, maintenance, and coordination of the company's environmental, health, and safety programs; prepare regulatory reports in compliance with the local, state, and federal agency requirements. In-depth knowledge of such systems as OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, EPA, DEP and health and safety at state and Federal levels. Conduct job and process hazard evaluations and perform routine audits of facilities and operations to ensure safe conditions and work practices and make recommendations to reduce or eliminate incident occurrence, including root cause analysis. Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures Ensure that the company complies with all safety obligations /requirements while analyzing and improving existing safety programs. Ensure that all employees receive required environmental, health, and safety training and assist in conducting any required testing. Assist with new employee safety orientation safety and hazard awareness training. Monitor employee compliance with safety and environmental policy. Manage and investigate incidents and injury claims whenever they occur. Establish and implement improvement plans based upon analysis to satisfy Company needs. Assist in implementing employee safety orientation training programs Manage Safety Personal Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Minimum of 5 years' experience serving in a Safety Manager role within industrial maintenance Experience in and around Power Plants is a plus CSP, CSHM, or similar professional certification preferred OSHA Instructor qualifications preferred MSHA Instructor preferred Must be Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Must have excellent report writing skills Extensive experience and knowledge of construction and industrial safety requirements Must have a valid driver license and be eligible to be added to company insurance Specifics: Location- Lakeland, Fl. Mandatory Travel throughout the United States. Travel required 80% of the time. Benefits Available - Medical, Dental, Vision, Life/ADD, STD, LTD, 401K, vacation & holiday pay Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 6am-5pm with the possibility of some Saturday, Sunday, or Night Shift duties.
