What Are We Looking For: Conhagen is seeking to hire a master turbine mechanic possessing ten years of experience in repairing and reconstructing steam turbines/ centrifugal compressors, including control systems, safety systems, and electronic governor controls, with the capability to mentor apprentices. Paid time off (Sick & Vacation Time) Dental Insurance/Vision Insurance /Health Insurance Long-Term Disability Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance Involuntary & Voluntary Life Insurance Typical Shift at the Shop: Turbines from customers arrive for repairs or servicing, Shop Mechanics use overhead cranes to move the components to the disassembly zone. Accomplish many time-critical assignments and follow a timetable in operationally challenging settings. Mechanics take apart and clean the components and accurately label all equipment parts. Inspect, construct/deconstruct, and mend all rotating machinery to operational standards following O.E.M., ASME, API, and customer regulations while training inexperienced personnel. Interpret equipment malfunctions by using problem-solving & analysis skills to gather facts, determine the correct solutions and troubleshoot needed repairs. Document any discrepancies or malfunctions while dismantling equipment. Autonomously dismantle and reconstruct turbine bolt joints and show amateur mechanics how. Execute and document dimensional and runout inspections of all crucial fitting elements while educating team members as needed. Complete NDT and PMI inspections and documentation on all turbine critical components. Log all turbine inspection details, including necessary repairs and replacements suggested in the proposals. Be versed in pump and turbine mechanisms, operations, terminology, critical tolerances, surfaces, and evaluation methods, and impart this knowledge to inexperienced turbine mechanics. Mechanics perform shop maintenance and sanitization duties regularly. Take part in the required monthly safety meetings. Report any broken machinery or equipment to the Safety Manager (Coordinator). Requirements: Adequate understanding of the English language (spoken & written.) Must have the authorization to work in the U.S. and be able to provide proof of such. All candidates receiving an employment offer must pass a standard drug and background screening before employment begins. Possess in-depth knowledge of rotors, pumps, blowers, power generators, condensers, motors, centrifuges, and gearboxes. A history of complying with safety regulations and participating in safe practices. Display an in-depth knowledge of steam turbine machine trains and valve components. Must have ten years of experience repairing and rebuilding steam turbines/ centrifugal compressors, including control systems, safety systems such as overspeed trip systems, and manual, hydraulic, and electronic governor controls. Knowledge of significant elements exclusive to steam turbines, including wheels, blades, governors, and trip valves. Have a complete understanding of blueprints, drawings, sketches, written instructions, and technical data. Possesses the strength to tug, heave, and transport up to 50 lbs. Capability to crouch, kneel, flex, and traverse around equipment. Possess sufficient vision: both near and distant, and visual depth perception. Proficient hand-eye coordination. The capacity to traverse a mechanic shop environment with/without accommodation. Attendance and punctuality. Possess skills in managing responsibilities with limited backing and self-direction. Working collaboratively as a team and having the capacity to work independently is essential. Manipulate hydraulic torque wrenches, hydraulic pullers, hydraulic/hand presses, torches, balance machines, PMI guns, and gantry/overhead cranes. Working Conditions: Predominantly in a mechanic shop environment A lively atmosphere in which product cycles are subject to fluctuations. Perform work near machinery with a moderate level of noise. Donning specified safety P.P.E. (eyeglasses & ear protection) is a must. Working with ladders is a potential part of the job. Alfred Conhagen may request an extension of hours to meet customer requirements. Overtime Opportunities. Communicate with staff, supervisors, and occasional patrons in person and through work telephone. Steel-toe footwear is mandatory.
