Grand Traverse County Road Commission is looking for someone who wants to make a difference in our community and be part of our mission to maintain a safe & efficient road system. The Road Commission is looking for a skilled individual to fill the position of Road Maintenance Worker . The Road Maintenance Worker is part of our crew who works to provide and maintain a safe road system. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys more flexibility in the summer with more traditional "week day" hours to enjoy their family, friends and beautiful Northern Michigan while the weather is good. Additionally, this job provides the stability of year-round work. We are accepting application in all three of the "TIER" classifications. All three tiers require a CDL A. The Road Maintenance Worker works on the maintenance of the County roads including, but not limited to, tree and brush removal, flagging, repairs of highways and streets, pothole patching, repair of drainage systems. This role must be able to locate utilities, set grades and understand basic survey equipment. This role operates pickups, winter maintenance trucks, backhoe loaders, dump trucks, mowers/tractors, double and dump trailers, and other equipment. The Road Maintenance Worker must be able to operate a chainsaw and be able to understand safety rules around road construction.
