Respite Specialist - Adult Respite Program

The Arc, Oneida- Lewis Chapter is seeking responsible adults to join our Adult Respite Program. In this role the respite specialist will provide respite (relief) for family members of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These services can take place in the community or at a site based program. Activities may include going out to dinner, sporting events, concerts, movies and holiday celebrations. The staff will demonstrate professional conduct to include compassion, dignity , and respect when interacting with other staff, family and individuals. Responsibilities: Implementation of the plans and activities provided by the supervisor of the assigned program. Ensuring supervision of assigned persons at all times Becoming familiar with the individuals' safeguards and provide any change of information and/or concerns to the program's coordinator. Develop and maintain a positive relationship with the person we support, working with the person and other team members to help determine and achieve valued outcomes for the individuals Qualifications: Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus - but not required High School Diploma or G.E.D.
