JOB SUMMARY:Responsible as a member of the interdisciplinary team to the Respiratory Manager and the attending physician for the administration of respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities and will train and act as a resource for respiratory department technicians. QUALIFICATIONS:? Satisfactory completion of a respiratory therapist program from anationally accredited respiratory therapy school required.? Currently licensed in Louisiana as a Respiratory Therapist? Ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients and families invaried settings; skilled in respiratory practice, ability to cope withfamily emotional stress, and tolerance of individual lifestyles.? Strong written/verbal communication, organizational and customer serviceskills a must.? Good physical stamina, mental health and personal hygiene habits.? Strong attention to detail? Good oral, written and organizational skills; computer literate andfamiliar with Microsoft Office software? Understands the healthcare philosophy of care and has empathy for the ill,along with their loved ones.? Proven experience and ability to work in a team-based environment.? Ability to read, follow directions, work independently, and operate mobiledocumentation device.? Exceptional organizational skills, effective time management, ability tomulti-task while still paying close attention to detail? Ability to take initiative and to see projects through to completion.? Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with other staff in afast growing, fast paced, and changing work environment.? Team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of ASLH.? Ability to maintain confidentiality. JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Ancillary Services DUTIES/JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Assesses patients and recommends respiratory therapy treatments.2. Consult with doctors and other healthcare staff to develop and modifypatient treatment plan3. Plans, prepares, and administers respiratory therapy treatments includingIPPB, aerosol, chest physical therapy, incentive spirometry, and sputuminductions in accordance with established policies and procedures.4. Performs diagnostic pulmonary and cardiac tests including EKGs.5. Records patient treatment, response, and progress.6. Inspects, tests, maintains, and operates respiratory therapy equipment.7. Responds to "code blue" calls and assists by maintaining the patient'sairway and performing CPR.8. Educate patients on how to use equipment and medication9. Regularly check on patients and equipment10. Attends department meetings.
