Make a difference in the lives of children and young adults you serve. The respiratory therapist position is critical to provide day-to-day respiratory care to residents. As a respiratory therapist at Cedarcrest, you will oversee the respiratory needs of residents. This position will assure that all respiratory equipment is in good working order and needed supplies are on hand. (see below for more details of our exclusive benefit package) *This is a full-time position on evening shift Reports to: Director of Nursing ______________________________________________________________________ PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provides respiratory therapy services to residents Assesses children's respiratory needs Assists with set up of respiratory equipment for new admissions following established procedures and in coordination with the respiratory vendor Completes respiratory assessments of new residents Provides respiratory treatments as prescribed Provides emergency care based on respiratory standards, policies/procedures /protocols Complies with State and Federal guidelines pertaining to controlled drugs and related medical supplies Assists with care and activities of daily living of residents Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, caring, and calmness Lifts, transfers, and/or positions residents according to the facility guidelines May accompany residents to medical appointments, as necessary Maintains ongoing documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record Meets with resident's family members as necessary Reports significant medical problems/needs to Director of Nursing and/or physician 2. Serves as liaison with physicians and respiratory vendors Oversees the setup of respiratory equipment Oversees the ordering of respiratory supplies Establishes standards for the maintenance of respiratory equipment Serves as liaison with respiratory suppliers/vendors Assists in policy development regarding respiratory care Monitors the condition of medical equipment used by resident Maintains records of medical equipment in-house as well as all equipment out for repair 3. Assists nurses and nursing assistants with care of children with respiratory needs Assists with oversight of respiratory care provided by the Nurses and LNA's Assures that incidents/accidents are recorded and that Director of Nursing is notified of incidents involving residents Reports safety, equipment, and facility concerns in a timely manner Participates in training of caregivers 4. Participates in meetings and performs administrative functions in support of nursing role Assists in updating written policies and procedures as needed Completes necessary medical forms and reports May participate in nurses' meetings and inservices as appropriate Assists in implementing residents' Total Plan of Care Attends resident's quarterly and annual meetings, as necessary ESSENTIAL skills/abilities: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Capable of working independently and with a team Must have strong verbal and written communication Must possess abilities to problem solve PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Position requires an active license in the State of New Hampshire with a minimum of two years' experience in clinical respiratory services. Experience with children with multiple disabilities and/or chronic health experience preferred.
