SUMMARY: Provides comprehensive clinical treatment services to youth placed in residential youth services. The services provided include assessment, treatment planning, crisis safety planning, individual and group therapy, family therapy, care coordination with parents/caregivers/legal guardians, coordination with additional services such as psychiatry, nursing, medical, and educational services, and independent living skills assessment and skills training. This program is in a trauma-informed home setting and serves up to six youth at time. Services are provided weekdays, with some evening, weekend, and holiday hours and days. Youth served have experienced trauma and will display trauma reactions through their behavior. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities associated with this job will change from time to time in accordance with the agency's program and business needs. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform additional and/or different responsibilities from those described below. Complete comprehensive assessment, utilizing program assessment tools, develop treatment plans and individualized safety/crisis plans with youth and families/caregivers. Provide interventions that focus on stabilizing the youth; teaching and modeling effective strategies and coping skills; identifying, increasing, and utilizing natural strengths, supports, and resources; preparing for crisis situations; improvement in overall functioning. Offer a variety of clinical interventions including trauma-specific, best practice and evidence-based models. Coordinate care with additional services such as psychiatry, nursing, medical, and educational services. Complete reports as required by contract. Participate in discharge planning with referral source, caregiver/family, and other professionals. Provide clinical on-call support to youth and direct care staff on a rotating basis, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Provide Mobile Crisis Response Program services, as needed to assist the program. Provide accurate monitoring and documentation of all case related activities to fulfill program obligations and requirements. Pursue broadened professional development to enhance level of competency and meet training requirements of contract. Deliver, at a minimum annually, a Specialist and DCS training on topics related to best ways to interact with the youth to support their therapeutic treatment and in a trauma-sensitive manner. Receive supervision that includes both regular and consistent meetings. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Adhere to Agency and program philosophies, policies, and procedures to assure consistent and ethical professional standards and required service outcomes. Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Minimum MSW/MA in a mental health-related field from an accredited school Individual with specialized training and one year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families Must be trained or have the ability to be trained in administration of program assessment tools Preferred experience in TF/CBT, DBT, MI and family systems work Trained or willingness to be trained in First Aid, CPR, and AED Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are desired Education, training, and/or knowledge of the impacts of trauma on individuals, children and families is desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret procedures and policies, professional journals, and legal documentation. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers, or employees of the organization. Ability to understand and motivate people and an awareness of importance of cultural differences within service populations. Operate as a team player with excellent organizational and communication skills. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only some limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions in daily work and for assigned programs/projects. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Licensure as a LLMSW, LLCP, LMSW or LPC in the State of Michigan required Certification in Mandt, First Aid, CPR, and AED, or be willing to trained and certified with 60 days of hire Valid driver's license and driving record and insurance which complies with agency policy PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to regularly provide out-of-office services in unstructured, unpredictable situations. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to travel to all areas within the service area. Must be able to transport clients in own vehicle; this includes adult clients and their children. Ability to drive own vehicle. Ability to drive during the day or evening, and in varied weather conditions, is required for this role. Primarily work environment is a residential living space, but periodically required to travel to other offices and/or external parties and community outings with the youth. Routinely exposed to typical residential living noise levels and/or exposure to various weather conditions WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters w hile performing the essential functions of this job.
