Salary: $28,975 - $35,807 Grade: 35 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Research Psychiatrist I. This is a part-time research psychiatrist position in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic of NY State Psychiatric Institute. Candidate will be responsible for clinical evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and research assessments of participants in a clinical trial involving pramipexole in patients with social disconnection and anxiety or depression, under direction of Principal Investigator Franklin Schneier. The role will require primarily on-site work for 8 hours/week (20% effort based on 40 hours/week). The position is an opportunity for an early-career psychiatrist interested in research of novel treatments and mechanisms underlying anxiety disorders. The ideal candidate will have experience with clinical trials and use of structured assessment instruments, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and enjoy working as part of team. Ideal candidates will also be interested in brain mechanisms underlying behavior and in working with anxiety disorder-related populations. Candidates who work well in fast-paced environments and are interested in participating in research on novel treatments are encouraged to apply. Please include a cover letter in your application. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include: Evaluation and treatment of participants in research protocols under supervision of the Principal Investigator. This will include administering research procedures such as structured diagnostic instruments, rating scales, and individual interviews (after appropriate training), and conducting physical examinations, providing backup for phlebotomy, and providing phone back-up for urgent patient concerns after clinic hours on a rotating basis. The role may include supervision of research assistants and opportunities to participate in grant applications, manuscript preparation, and resident education. Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State; eligible for board certification in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. RFMH employees may be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 depending on work location and must provide proof of vaccination. Individuals that are not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) or more weeks since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
