Job Summary: Ontario Tech University is hiring a Research Partnerships Officer, reporting to the Manager, Research Partnerships, to fulfill our mandate of cultivating research partnerships with innovative external organizations to stimulate and enhance the local community and to create a dynamic learning environment for graduate students and trainees. We are looking for someone who is motivated by a fast-paced, collaborative, entrepreneurial, inclusive work environment and who enjoys being part of a team. The position will be responsible for facilitating the building of research scope activities, assist with partnered funding proposals, contract negotiations, and industry partnership outreach. Responsibilities/accountabilities: Develop and implement an ongoing strategy for the identification, cultivation and stewardship of external partners in support of all Faculties at Ontario Tech, with a primary focus on engineering, the applied sciences, technological innovation, and information technology. Pro-actively target sectors or organizations where there is high potential for funded research. Work closely with faculty members to connect research interests to external partner interests and needs. Facilitate the development of partnered funding proposals (e. g. Mitacs) including coordinating the participation of external partners, finalizing the proposal submission and securing the appropriate partnership agreements. Support the post-award administration of partnership agreements and partnered funding Lead information gathering on research projects which includes identification of intellectual property and rights of use for the involved parties. Initiate the negotiation of the terms and conditions of research contracts. Coordinate and deliver presentations to potential partners and at events to advance the visibility and research profile of the University.
