The Carver College of Medicine Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology is seeking a Research Associate to execute planned research activities using observation, measurement, and analytical techniques. Perform animal experimentation and assist in animal care functions of research animals following facility standard operating procedures of transgenic, multi-line mouse colonies. Duties to include: * Conduct metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurophysiological experiments on animals (rodents) involving vascular cannulation and blood pressure recording, nerve activity recordings, metabolic cages etc * Work closely with the OAR facility and veterinarian staff to address concerns of animal care. Serve as liaison between the lab and OAR and IACUC * Order and maintain records of drugs/chemical agents and other supplies * Maintain, conduct, and document laboratory equipment inventories according to university policy and under the direction of the designated department administrator * Manage the talents, strengths and behaviors of each individual in a diverse work group, while providing each member including students and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to contribute to the goals of the unit.
