Research Associate - Genomics

Summary The Aiden lab at BCM is focused on generating and using genomic and epigenetic data in novel ways to explore fundamental biological mechanisms. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic research associate to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow in your experimental and analytical expertise, work with in a vibrant research community, and contribute to fundamental work towards understanding biological systems. Job Duties Execute experimental protocols including HiC, single cell HiC, and other genomic and epigenomic assays. Develop novel experimental protocols relevant to the lab's priorities. Clearly document and communicate (oral and written) results of experiments; collects, compiles, and analyzes data; conducts literature searches. Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports and publications. Annotate and maintain collaborative protocol repositories for all lab members. Participate in lab maintenance activities as directed such as cleaning/maintaining equipment and work areas, orders laboratory supplies and equipment. May support research activities of less experienced research staff and assist with training new lab members. Work with model organisms. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Perform intact HiC experiments following established protocols and maintaining high-quality standards. Develop optimized HiC protocols for specific sample types. Perform other genomic and epigenomics experiments as directed by PI. Record and document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases as decided in collaboration with PI. Collaborate effectively with team members, to analyze and interpret data, share insights, and actively participate in group meetings and discussions. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment, including restocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and disposing of waste materials. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted. Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Biology or related field Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques and laboratory procedures Familiarity with HiC methods Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow experimental protocols accurately Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong communication and teamwork abilities Comfortable working independently and seeking guidance when necessary Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer. 19190 SN
