Summary The Michigan Center for Translational Pathology (MCTP) is seeking an experienced Research Administrator to help manage the Michigan Prostate Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) in pre-award and administrative activities as well as assist the center with manuscript writing, submissions and reviews. Since inception in 1995, the University of Michigan (U-M) Prostate SPORE has endeavored to tap the vast intellectual and physical resources of the U-M community to decrease the morbidity and mortality of prostate cancer. In 2018, U-M joined forces with Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) to propose a ?Michigan Prostate SPORE? leveraging our institutions? respective areas of strength. The Michigan Prostate SPORE supports an interactive group of basic and clinical investigators in a translational research program that has led to major discoveries in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of prostate cancer.The preferred candidate will have experience with U-M policies and regulations and be able to interface with other institutions, departments, and offices within the university. This role will manage 50% of the SPORE financials for both pre-award and administrative activities as well as monthly summaries. We are looking for a candidate experienced in reviewing and editing both proposals and support materials for compliance with policies, regulations, and procedures for clinical, research and human resource activities. This position requires management expertise for the SPORE?s timelines, roles and responsibilities, including the ability to balance the workload to update biosketch and CV for the director of MCTP and SPORE, organizing and managing related activities, as well as other supporting program grants and there reporting needs. Draft annual and other reports for department and medical school as requested. Draft letters of recommendations and support. Manage/renew unfunded agreements such as data use, material transfer and confidentiality agreements. Understand and adhere to research sponsor agency grant requirements and provide interpretation and policy guidance for renewals. Adhere to and monitor project requirement dates and grant preparation guidelines: manage timelines, roles and responsibilities. Coordinate submissions, communicate with ORSP and NCI. Complete all necessary forms for all types of submissions. Facilitate internal review process. Prepare PAF and route in eRPM Working with the SPORE PI, synthesize all pre- and post- award financials and assemble monthly summary report for PI and related personnel. Carry out routing, submissions, and all other required activities in eResearch, Assist, and eRA Commons. Coordinate all aspects of grant renewals/other grant-related activities, working with SPORE PIs, participants, and scientific writer. Coordinate all aspects annual progress reports for submission, working with SPORE PIs, participants, and scientific writer. Review/edit proposal/support materials for compliance with policies, regulations, and procedures. Interface with sub-awardees at other institutions, departments, and offices throughout U-M to ensure timely submission of progress reports and proposals. Track SPORE publications and ensure PubMed Central? (PMC) compliance. Maintain communications with all SPORE participants, EAB members, Patient Advocates and NIH Staff Administrators. Write and provide support on administrative sections of other research grants as needed. Attend NCI Prostate SPORE and all-SPORE meetings, take minutes as needed. Organize monthly meeting speakers. Schedule and organize the Michigan Prostate SPORE External Advisory Board (EAB) meetings including communicating with EAB members. SPORE Annual Retreat organization - communications, collect abstracts and assist with travel. Update biosketch and other support document for SPORE PI. Other related duties as assigned. Manage the Career Enhancement and Developmental Program Awards process including solicitating applications, manage the review process and notify applicants of funding decisions. Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in administration or science related field and 5-7 years of progressive grant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience for the senior level. Bachelor's degree in administration or science related field and 3-5 years of grant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience for the intermediate level. Three or more years of experience managing programs and projects. Ability to set and meet timeline expectations. Strong writing, production, and technical editing skills. Strng analytical skills. Proven leadership skills. Desired Qualifications* Master's dgree, Ph.D., or certification in research administration and/or a scientific field Experience managing large, multi-institutional program grants (P20, P50, U01, etc.) Underfill Statement This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
