POSITION SUMMARY: Under close supervision of psychiatry staff, provides general psychiatric and nursing services in Communicare Programs. QUALIFICATIONS: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialty in psychiatric or mental health nursing. Active Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license. SKILL SETS: Good computer skills, superior oral and written communication skills, articulate, trustworthy and decisive. Other skill sets include but are not limited to highly organized, good anticipatory planning, conflict resolution and analytical skills. PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Must have visual acuity to read a variety of written reports and documents; hearing needed to understand spoken communications by phone and face-to-face with many staff, consumers, and external sources; speaking ability sufficient to be understood clearly by a wide range of audiences. JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: Provides individual therapy with children and adult clients with a variety of diagnoses. Conducts psychiatric evaluations as required for treatment, consultation, or referral. Consults with other professionals in development and implementation of treatment plans. Reviews and signs treatment plans. Participates in Therapeutic Rehabilitation Programs, providing consultation to clients and staff. Prescribes chemotherapy as indicated. Participates in Clozaril program, following clients on the medication, providing consultation to the client, family and staff, and monitoring any side effects. Consults with community physicians regarding referrals and mutual clients as indicated. Develops and maintains professional relationships with psychiatrists and physicians in community for Communicare. Provides group therapy for chronic clients, or other client groups, on outpatient basis. Provides injections of prescribed psychotropic medication. Monitors vital signs, weight, and other health-related behaviors of clients when appropriate. Completes documentation concerning client services related to treatment and billings. Participates in agency continuing quality improvement (CQI) activities. Performs other duties as assigned. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Adheres to Communicare, Inc. policies and procedures.
