R & D Engineer

Description:
PRIMARY FUNCTIONPlan, organize, coordinate and manage development projects as directed by direct supervisor. Monitor change in scientific advancements and legal regulations as they pertain to graphite. Benchmarking of both suppliers and competitors. Collaborate across facility departments, internal and external, as directed to facilitate plant wide improvements and development projects.RESPONSIBILITIES Apply strong data analysis including DOE & advanced statistical analysis; organize, coordinate & manage development engineering activities as assigned by Technical Manager. Create, develop & perfect new products & processes according to internal guidelines Directly facilitate collaborative efforts within the site as necessary to achieve targeted project goals Provide additional support to facility engineering activities as necessary to achieve overall facility goals Attend classes, meetings, & conferences pertaining to carbon & related products or subjects to keep informed regarding new developments in materials, processes & production Communicate or call on customers when requested to advise on the use of Mersen products & to generally keep abreast of customer requirements Participate in analyzing & appraising technical specifications Obtain patents as appropriateREQUIRED SKILLS Develop and maintain research and development project organization, analysis and project reports Develop project budges Contact resources both internal and external to the group Collaborate with customers and suppliers Demonstrate strong project management and problem-solving skills Willingness for limited travelEDUCATION Master's degree in ceramic, chemical or material science engineering or similar field 2-4 years of product or process engineering experience in similar industry
