DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is a responsible supervisory position assigned to the KidCare Program in the Community Health Department reporting directly to the PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER E-SES/ Community Health Director in conformity with state and federal regulations. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. The KidCare Coordinator will be responsible for supervising and assisting in the following job duties in the KidCare Program: Providing customer service via answering (954) INSURES line and assisting consumers with the Kidcare application process, mailing out KidCare applications as requested, and periodically distributing KidCare materials at places of business, maintaining a phone log of incoming calls and updating information into a database. The KidCare Coordinator is responsible for attending community events and providing presentations to the community on the KidCare Program. The KidCare Coordinator is responsible for contractual reporting requirements and status reports to the Community Health Director. Serves as the local source of customer service information for community-based organizations and consumers in Broward County. Answers incoming calls, retrieves messages, returns calls, and mails out applications as requested. Completes monthly, quarterly, and annual status reports on the KidCare Outreach/Education Program. Serves as the local client advocate for families, via phone or in person, for the identification of Florida KidCare issues. Refer such issues to the appropriate Florida KidCare Program Office and completes Outreach Sheets as appropriate. Assists KidCare Outreach Staff in stocking and having readily available large quantities of all KidCare materials (applications, brochures, promotional items, and other information) needed by community partners in Broward County who are assisting with KidCare outreach. Mails or hand delivers these materials as requested. Participates in all communication activities (conference calls, workgroup meetings, trainings, and presentations). Plans local marketing outreach activities and participate in public relations activities such as television and radio appearances, and community events as resources allow. Chair the local advisory committee, known as KidCare Partners Taskforce, which is responsible for planning and assessing KidCare outreach activities performed in Broward County. Prepare for meeting (type minutes, make photocopies, distribute handouts to members.) Responsible for coding Employee Activity Record (EARS) Performs other related duties as required. Serves as a POD Manager during the activation of ICS to conduct exercises and events that require deployment of staff OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in Special Needs shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as Department of Health and Broward County Health Department Policies, Protocols and Procedures. Has been delegated custodial authority for their Program/Unit’s information set(s) and/or secured area(s). Serves as the Program/Unit’s Key Custodian. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Experience hiring, supervising and evaluating employees’ performances. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices and ability to implement them. Basic arithmetic, office procedures and practices. Knowledge of public agencies involved in health and human services and Community Based Organizations in Broward County. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent typing and computer skills needed including knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word. Experience in Presentations and speaking in front of a group of people. Ability to speak clearly and correctly, listen effectively, record and evaluate data. Ability to plan and organize work assignments and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to collect data and compile reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supervising staff. Experience collaborating with community partners. Experience delivering presentations in a large community setting. Experience with leading a community coalition. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Valid Driver’s License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Public Health, Health Education, Public Administration, or related field. Experience managing and implementing a health insurance or financial eligibility determination program. Experience planning and conducting large community outreach events. Experience developing written reports, deliverables, and correspondences. Experience with budget development and management. Data collection and analysis experience.
