SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Under the guidance of the psychiatrist, facilitate the provision of accurate mental health and substance abuse information, co-occurring treatment or, where applicable, referral to the appropriate level of care, to meet the therapeutic needs of the patient. Foster the mission of Citizen Advocates, Inc. through commitment to quality, facilitating and coordinating effective co-occurring mental health treatment within the organization and with all externally who have contact with Citizen Advocates, Inc. and demonstrating respect and dignity to consumers and staff Essential Functions (Job Duties) Comprehensive evaluation and diagnosis resulting ongoing treatment planning and subsequent review as required by OMH and OASAS. Initial evaluative sessions will require one hour; ongoing medication management sessions will require 15 - 30 minutes unless otherwise warranted. Provide Psychopharmacological Service to include, but not limited to the prescribing and management of psychotropic medication. Provide medication evaluation and ongoing treatment for substance use disorder's (i.e. Suboxone, Vivitrol), unless other arrangements discussed in contract negotiations. Provide psychotherapy and facilitate groups for selected populations as required by Director. Make referrals for psychiatric hospitalizations and facilitate admissions when clinically warranted. Provide crisis intervention on an as needed basis. Provide mental health consultation to other CIA, Inc. staff as needed to include after clinic hours. Will communicate with other health care providers as needed to ensure that the client treatment is appropriate and coordinated. Complete documentation as required by the Director and all regulatory agencies. Complete timely documentation to facilitate the appropriate care of patients. Complete documentation to ensure compliance to all regulatory agencies to include, but not limited to OMH, Medicare, Medicaid, OASAS and private insurance. Attend all internal and external meetings as designated by the Director. Provides additional Psychiatric consultations when needed including jail consultations, DOL assessments, Social Security, etc. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree from an approved nurse practitioner program allowing for ANCC certification or eligible to sit for exam. The candidate must be licensed in NYS as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Continuing professional education required.
