We were founded when a coalition of diverse North Side congregations hired Rev. Tom Behrens to reach out to people where they gathered at night due to isolation, despair, and homelessness. From those humble beginnings over 40 years ago when Tom's first office was the trunk of his car, we have grown to a financially sound nonprofit that provides numerous award-winning services to the most vulnerable in our community. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTIONER As a Psychiatric NP , you will Support the mission and goals of The Night Ministry by offering hospitality, health education and assessments, counseling, medical treatment, and providing referrals for further appropriate treatment to persons experiencing homelessness and any person without access to adequate health care. Lead the development of a mental health services program designed for unhoused individuals in nontraditional clinical locations. Provide psychiatric health care services across outreach platforms and Conduct physical assessments. Assess and treat common acute and chronic illnesses. Accurate and timely data entry in external and internal databases, i.e. Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO). Maintain documentation of health-related activities and other services provided, as required by funding or accrediting sources, using electronic medical records and other reporting mechanisms. You will also develop referral/warm hand-off resources & partnerships for clients to access care at brick-and-mortar clinics. Set up, load, and break down supplies needed for outreach shifts with other team members. You will also travel to outreach settings, such as shelters, food pantries, soup kitchens, and other community partners throughout the city. QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE FOR A PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTIONER Must possess a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC) by May 1, 2023 Must have a current driver's license and possess evidence of insurability Must have scheduling flexibility including availability on evenings, late nights, and weekends Minimum 5 years of nursing experience Demonstrated experience in counseling patients/clients Scheduling flexibility for the daytime, evening, and nighttime shifts Passion for and commitment to serving vulnerable populations Professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills Ability to react quickly in emergencies; demonstrated "street smarts" Ability to cope with intense client situations that may require de-escalation Ability to function successfully in a team-based environment where responsibilities may be shared and all are expected to help each other Physically able and willing to work in various settings, including outdoors Physically able to set up, load, and break down supplies for outreach shifts Familiarity with referral sources READY TO JOIN IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST HOMELESSNESS?
