Position Responsibility: As part of the Protective Services department, this individual is responsible for the day-to-day management including case screening and assignment, staff supervision, and case consultation. This individual is also responsible for the completion of monthly QA audits on Protective Services cases. Essential Functions: (Core duties or tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job) Coordinate Protective Services functions including: screening of reports, distribution of intakes, case sign-off, oversight of court cases, maintenance of files, and assuring compliance with regulatory requirements of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Provide clinical consultation, weekly supervision and support for the Protective Services Caseworkers. Work with the Protective Services Team to develop an in-house educational program on crisis intervention and offer consultation to staff for protective, elders at risk, and self-neglect cases. Utilize the court system when necessary as indicated under the MGL Chapter 19A law and other mandates. Attend Protective Services regional meetings and internal program management meetings. Assume coverage responsibilities for the Protective Services Department including participation in after hour's beeper system as needed. Conduct field visits to assess an older adult's physical, social, emotional and environmental status to determine their eligibility and needs in their homes in accordance with Executive Office of Elder Affairs regulations. Conduct monthly QA audits on Protective Services intakes and investigations. Complete QA modules for Protective Services and Age Info staff evaluations. Assist with the completion of PS evaluations. Work closely with Protective Services Management and the agency QI Director to develop and implement new QA initiatives. Complete QA evaluations for Protective Services Staff Participate in and collaborate with other Protective Services Management staff on duties including but not limited to hiring, new staff orientation, ongoing training presentations regarding new procedures or programs, and coaching new mental health case management staff as needed. Work closely with Home Care Management to stay informed of Programmatic changes which may impact the Protective Services Unit. Provide supervision and complete QA modules for Case Managers in Protective Services. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: A Masters or higher degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology, plus at least two years of experience in counseling, casework, case management, preferably in a Protective Services or crisis intervention role; A Bachelors' degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, nursing, sociology, criminal justice, public health, public policy, or gerontology plus at least three years of experience in counseling, casework or case management providing protective or crisis intervention services may be substituted for the Masters. Good verbal, written communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, public speaking and facilitation skills.
