The Project Manager - Public Infrastructure position is responsible for overseeing the coordination and collaboration between the City's external engineering firms, city construction inspection staff, and contractors engaged in the planning and completion of a wide variety of public works infrastructure projects for the City of Hutchinson. A Day in the Life: Coordinating and communicating with third-party engineering firms, city departments, other government agencies, subcontractors, and suppliers related to roadway, storm water and utility related infrastructure projects. Ensuring construction and design intent is achieved on built construction projects. Identifying and documenting QA and QC deficiencies and times. Reviewing baseline and progress schedules, performing time impact analysis, recommending negotiation strategies, identifying opportunities for improving performance. Assisting in the supervision of in-house support staff including prioritizing and developing work plans, evaluating staff performance, monitoring progress on reports and projects, interpreting policies and procedures, establishing standards, and identifying staff training and development needs. Conducting regular site visits to monitor construction activities and address any issues or concerns. Resolving scope of work issues on project with and between sub-contractors. Overseeing and maintaining daily logs of construction and inspection activities and preparing/reviewing progress reports. Monitor progress and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinating bid documents and bid invitations. Managing change orders, contracts and verifying project related compliance paperwork/documentation. Providing objective analysis and sound judgment to evaluate and report project performance from concept study to construction & startup. What You Will Need to be Successful: Qualified candidates should possess a proven track record for successfully managing construction projects; preferably in the areas of roadway pavement rehabilitation, intersection, drainage, and water/wastewater utilities; strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials; and proficiency in project and construction management software systems. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, desirable. Professional accreditation in scheduling, construction, or project management also highly desirable.
