About The Job We are seeking an entry-level water/wastewater project engineer to provide planning, assessment, and design services as part of a project team for water, wastewater and recycled water projects with an emphasis on treatment facilities. This position will be based in our Encinitas, CA office. Learn more about the projects you will have the opportunity to shape. Duties and Responsibilities (may include some or all of the below): Willing and able to travel within California for fieldwork including site visits, field measurements, condition assessments, Operations and Maintenance workshops, and client meetings. Perform engineering evaluations and develop technical studies and reports. Perform engineering calculations, research, and analysis. Clearly document formulas and methodology used, and check work. Assist in the preparation of engineering design plans, specifications, and cost estimates. An Ideal Candidate is: Highly motivated self-starter who is eager to be challenged and problem-solve. Excellent verbal and written communicator. Highly resourceful and able to work through challenges productively and efficiently Has familiarity and an interest in treatment processes, mechanical, and civil design. Takes on any task assigned with a positive attitude and team-oriented mindset. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Relevant coursework and/or emphasis on water/wastewater engineering. Engineer-in-Training certification preferred but not required. 0 - 4 years engineering consulting experience. Preferred experience includes engineering planning, assessment, and/or design of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. Familiar with basic aspects of engineering and construction, such as Plans, Specifications, RFIs, submittals, cost estimates, etc. Familiar with common wastewater treatment processes and facilities. Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft office (especially Word and Excel), have excellent writing, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Service-oriented, motivated, self-starter seeking to complement a highly skilled, professional engineering team. Able to work on challenging assignments in a team environment. Potential for travel required within California. Physical Requirements Working Conditions: This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc. This job requires project site visits-based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires working on a computer, sitting or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting. This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc. Speaking, hearing and listening are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Proposed Salary Range: $79,560-$97,420 annually * *Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
