Project Engineer, PICS Process Control/Deer Island MWRA The MWRA is looking for a Project Engineer, PICS to support, maintain and is a resource related to the technology which underlies the process instrumentation and control system (PICS) used to control and monitor the waste treatment process at the Deer Island Treatment Plant (DITP). The PICS system is a typical distributed control system (DCS) normally found in the f1uid process industries. Supports the entire PICS department with hardware maintenance and software source backup and maintenance; assists the Program Manager, Process Engineering and or other Operations Program and Project Managers with the design, analysis and documentation of new process control strategies and/or the modification to existing control strategies; under the direction of the senior staff, implements, tunes, and tests control strategies and console displays; monitors the performance of the PICS system. Identifies problems. Advises supervisor and implements solutions; participates in all aspects of PICS standard hardware and software maintenance and upgrade; coordinates PICS contractor preventative maintenance programs with plant staff; is on-call to provide emergency maintenance for PICS hardware and system functions and to provide assistance to operations personnel in the event of system malfunction. This position requires a four (4) year Bachelors Degree Program in a science or engineering discipline and a minimum of one (1 ) year of experience in the field of industrial process control particularly as it relates to the application of distributed control systems (DCS); wastewater plant experience is desired; and experience in reading Process and Instrumentation Diagrams and logic diagrams.
