What you'll do Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and direct team on daily work. Assure area is set up and ready for operations on a daily basis. Inspect work in progress and final products meet quality specifications; perform quality checks as required position including simple to complex measurements and comparisons. Assist management in planning and coordinating cross training, job rotation programs, and job assignments to comply with production needs. Effectively communicate work instructions, messages, and decisions both verbally and in writing. Maintain management aware of downtime, job readiness concerns, and/or quality related concerns. Assist as needed in the corrective action of production and quality issues. Conduct employee training for new hires and re-train as needed. Assist operators in their work and helps them find ways to be successful. Conduct periodic audits of performance in conjunction with safety related observations Respond to any process abnormality by correcting it or advising the operator of the correct performance methods and/or observations. Seek ideas and suggestions from the work group relating to improving quality, productivity, efficiency & safety. Provide information to management as needed. Verify team members are engaged during downtime to include duties related to housekeeping and 5S. Check and maintain necessary supplies, including safety supplies, are present in the work area as needed. Assists work group in assuring machinery and equipment are in good working order and ready for following shift start-up. Participate in process improvement activities and supports improvement efforts. Motivate and encourage personnel through positive feedback. Perform the essential duties within area of responsibility (to include Material Handler 1, Material Handler 2, Machine Operator 1, Machine Operator 2, Set-up Operator) to be able to provide relief of any job within area and to provide training to new operators. Overtime may be required.
