Description:
Responsibilities: Designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by developing and testing specifications and methods. Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs and applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials. Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties. Develops mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators. Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components. Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; and requesting special services. Maintains system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management and the rest of the Team. Completes technical studies. Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests. Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements. Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems. Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains project database by writing computer programs, entering, and backing up data. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Approves new equipment by conducting tests, ensuring adherence to codes, and making modifications. Installs new equipment by establishing, adjusting, calibrating, and testing performance. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, conducting tests, and troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions. Calls for special equipment service, evaluates service contracts, and maintains equipment inventories. Evaluates proposed equipment by conducting tests and evaluations. Improves equipment performance by studying machine-patient interaction, conferring with equipment users, developing modifications, and collaborating with manufacturers. Maintains supplies & inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders, and verifying receipt. Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows. Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures. Assembles reports to document process status and changes. Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades. Communicates findings and proposals to upper management. Provides thorough instructions for the successful implementation of process changes. Conducts risk assessments. Assesses compliance with applicable safety and quality standards. Contributes to departmental efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Qualifications/Skills: CAD Practical Experience – SolidWorks preferred, but others considered. Strong attention to detail. Ability to see beyond their Silo – aware of the impact of change. Fast Learner - Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems. Strong Analytical and math skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient with computers and MS Office products Knowledge of process engineering software systems Familiarity with Medical Device regulations Formal Documentation skills Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements: Successful Experience is more valuable than an advanced degree. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred Previous experience in design, quality, or business process engineering Previous experience working with CAD and AutoCAD (prefer SolidWorks) Knowledge of Sterilization, Calibration, Clinical Procedures, Lab testing, and Documentation Control is very valuable.
