This position is responsible for leading a multi-site team of engineers and designers that continuously enhance the design of our existing products. This leader will work collaboratively with cross functional teams to deliver product design solutions that improve quality, performance, and manufacturability of on one of our fastest growing product lines within the enterprise and will be part of the local leadership teams responsible for strategy and execution of business directives. This position will require approximately 30% travel. Andersen Corporation is a privately held, nationally recognized, and market leading manufacturer of premium quality windows and doors. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership, coaching, and work direction to your direct team of engineers and CAD designers Manage day-to-day execution of multiple projects in key functional areas (safety, quality, delivery, cost) Act as liaison to coordinate and manage enterprise research, development, and innovation initiatives Manages team and provides site-level coverage and leadership. Ensures that a wide variety of opportunities are identified and addressed appropriately, following company guidelines and practices (this may include supplier, productivity, safety, quality, etc.). Deliver agreed results in the areas of safety, quality, customer service, cost and employee satisfaction/development for all areas of responsibility. Define and communicate performance targets for safety, quality, customer service and cost. Develop and implement plans to provide process improvement in key areas defined above. Product improvement initiatives will be aligned with Lean Manufacturing principles and the strategic plan. Establish an environment conducive to high levels of morale, associate satisfaction, and performance. Deliver performance to budget. Use participative approach in budgeting process. Ensure alignment of activities and resources within functional areas. Ensure cross-organization collaboration and associate involvement where appropriate. Acquire the appropriate people, technology, equipment and financial resources necessary to meet customer expectations and implement the business improvement plans. Support new process and product development and implementation. Be highly visible to associates and create a safe environment for participation. Promote active/hands-on management to solve problems and promote high involvement approaches to problem solving. Establish visual management techniques to manage priorities and resources and meet deadlines Mentor developing employees by providing coaching, information, ideas, feedback, and encouragement to promote the growth and development of the team Establishes realistic goals and programs for attaining results for the team Continued personal growth and development. Role model supporting the value of continuous learning. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A strong passion for leading and developing a high-performance team BS in engineering or equivalent engineering experience 5-7 years of experience in Quality, Research and Development, or Process Engineering Strong written and verbal communication skills. This position will be required to promote, justify, and generate energy for project ideas to all levels in the organization, up to the executive level Knowledge of design specification and documentation methods Self-motivated with strong intellectual curiosity Proficiency in project management methodologies with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion both independently and while leading a team Expected travel of 30% STRONGLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 7+ years Engineering experience in both product and process design Experience using SPC to drive manufacturing improvements Experience driving a Quality culture Lean Sigma Green or Black Belt experience Experience with and passion for data analytics Able to motivate associates at all levels. In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
