Job Description This position includes but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities: To identify and implement opportunities to improve the safety of the manufacturing process To improve manufacturing efficiencies (rate, yield, uptime, quality) inside plant To develop methods to increase rates of products produced without impacting quality To develop methods to increase yields To start-up new equipment as it comes online To write procedures for operation of equipment To stay abreast of new equipment / process developments in the field To lead plant efforts in transitioning new products from R&D To communicate regularly with process engineers in other plants sharing combined knowledge To troubleshoot manufacturing problems and identify solutions with data based decision making To identify and implement new or improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability To work with quality department in addressing process issues that impact performance of products in our customer’s plants To define operating conditions and procedures which maximize quality, rate, yield and uptime of processes in plant To conduct capability studies as necessary to define process stability and capability To establish work plans necessary to accomplish goals, track and report progress in comparison to plans Other duties as assigned Qualifications EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Engineering or equivalent technical degree. Prior experience in extrusion preferred Knowledge of statistics preferred Prior use of designed experiments, SPC or equivalent preferred Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision Be able to follow and give high regard to safety rules and housekeeping procedures. Knowledge of computer software, such as; SAP, Microsoft Word and Excel, and other software as necessary Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously. Ability to communicate with co-workers, vendors, customers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner. Work equally well individually or in a team situation.
