We hope you will contact us to learn more and to be a part of our diverse, collaborative team!We are looking to add a full-time Engineer II/III to our team in Beltsville, MD. This position reports to the Sr. Process Engineer and will execute the hands-on roll-to-roll and web handling manufacturing processes to create components for solid-state batteries. Responsibilities: Lead design and execution of process development trials independently.Eliminate limitations in equipment capability and drive process development from proof-of-concept to pilot scale and beyond.Perform regular analysis of production data, compilation of reports, design of experiment, and troubleshoot equipment issues.Provide technical guidance and support to operation technicians, assist with equipment maintenance, investigate process failures, and apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and improve Quality.Document equipment, process, and methods in SOPs.Lead equipment safety reviews, coordinate training of staff on new equipment, factory & site acceptance testing, equipment/process performance validation, and transition to operations.Support projects to identify and validate equipment required for future manufacturing growth. Analyze different equipment options to balance cost, capability, performance, and capacity while using or collecting data to drive decisions.Perform all work in adherence to company environmental, health and safety guidelines. Be proactive in identifying and correcting potential safety hazards.Travel: 10% Expected. Ability to occasionally travel both domestically and internationally. Required Skills/Experience: BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. BS in Chemistry (or similar) may be considered with relevant experience.Minimum 5 years of Industrial Manufacturing Experience3+ years experience with industrial chemical processes in a pilot or production setting. Experience with roll-to-roll processing and web handling (i.e. coating or casting processes) is desired.Ability to work in self-directed or team environment, balance multiple projects and prioritize commitments to meet critical company objectives.Excellent data analysis and verbal/written communication skills.Statistical analysis skills (SPC, DOE, Minitab, JMP). Ability to create, manage, and analyze substantial process data and present it in a succinct, cohesive manner. Bonus Skills/Experience: Experience with PLCs and/or automated logging of process data.Experience in one of the following industries: batteries, ceramics, thin films, or glass manufacturing.Experience with beta gauges, in-line defect detection and continuous monitoring quality equipment.3D Modeling Experience using a CAD Software.Lean manufacturing certification, six sigma (or similar).
