To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.We are looking for a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer to join the team.As a Principal Hardware Quality Engineer in the Commodity Quality Team, you will apply system and GPU related expertise to provide best-in-class development support for Azure Cloud Artificial Intelligence servers. You will use technical expertise to help drive issue resolution, quality improvements/mitigations, and system telemetry. As part of this you will analyze data and collaborate closely with other hardware, firmware, and software engineers at both Microsoft and external entities.Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: 10+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience. 8+ years of experience in working with the modern server architectures - includes understanding of GPU, CPU methods for failure analysis, debugging or validation. Other Requirements : Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: 15+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience. Detailed exposure and experience of servers-systems and knowledge of server components and their workings. General understanding of system Reliability, Accessibility and Serviceability (RAS) features. Ability to analyze large data sets and extract the essence and used the data to make data driven decisions. Use and apply statistics to evaluate product reliability and highlight potential product risks - Six Sigma Greenbelt is a plus. Reliability Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year. Influence engineering teams and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) teams through a collaborative working style while maintaining the position of the customer. Work closely with external development partners, internal Microsoft V-teams made up of both hardware, Firmware, and software development teams, and with upstream component vendors to drive, monitor and improve the hardware quality of Microsoft products going into data centers globally. Participate in the Hardware development activities representing the quality organization and work with established teams and V-teams to drive identified issues or challenges to resolution. Be a hardware quality expert who leads failure analysis and root cause identification of hardware issues and supplier quality gaps. Responsible for conducting and overseeing the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations. Represent the quality team in supplier performance evaluation. Work with internal and external GPU and the industry to establish needed requirements and specifications. Identify and work with teams to isolate available, needed telemetry and enable analysis.
