Team Description We are the data science team whose ML projects are leveraged for all customer facing messaging on Capital One's homepage and mobile app. We build personalized recommendation engines while optimizing and learning using both multi-armed bandits and A/B/n testing. Our areas of research include reinforcement learning, recommender systems, causal inference, and deep learning with a focus on transformers. In this role, you will Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers loveLeverage a broad stack of technologies - Python, AWS, Pyspark, Nvidia Rapids / Merlin / Triton, and more - to reveal the insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual dataBuild machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementationFlex your interpersonal skills to translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals The Ideal Candidate is Customer first. Basic Qualifications Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master's Degree plus 3 years in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining PhD, with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start dateAt least 1 year of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysisAt least 1 year of experience with machine learningAt least 1 year of experience with relational databases Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus 3 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)Specialized experience in the fields of Information Retrieval, NLP, Data-centric AI, and Knowledge GraphsAt least 3 years' experience in PyTorch/TensorflowAt least 3 years' experience with machine learningAt least 1 year of experience working with AWSCapital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $165,100 - $188,500 for Data Science PhDSan Francisco, California (Hybrid On-site): $174,900 - $199,700 for Data Science PhDCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
