Bennett CollegeJob PostingTitle: Preschool Teacher AssistantDate of Posting: 11/25/2019Closing Date: Until FilledDepartment: Martin Dixon Intergenerational CenterReports To: Director, Martin Dixon Intergenerational CenterGeneral Summary: It is the responsibility of the Teacher Assistant to assist in the day to day organization and operation of programs for a specific group of children providing a high quality environment in which each child achieves the highest level of social, emotional, physical and intellectual competence.Essential Job Functions:• Planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children Assures the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the groups• Organizes and maintains classroom activity areas, materials, supplies, and playground activities• Keeps the director advised of equipment and materials that need to be repaired and/or replaced• Maintains constant supervision of the children• Takes daily attendance• Trains and makes the most constructive use of teacher assistant, intern, practicum students, and work-study students• Establishes and maintains effective communication with parents• Attends in-service training as required• Understanding of the NC Child Care laws • Keeps the director informed of any classroom problems or concerns• Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment• Perform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Knowledge of Early Childhood Development/ Child Development• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse community• Ability to work independently• Skilled in the use of Educational TechnologyEducation and Experience:• Minimum: AA in field or AA out of field with 18 semester hours in ECE/CD ECE semester hours and any BA/BS degree accepted• Prefer a minimum of 6 months experience working with children• Certified in CPR & First Aide• Current Criminal Background Check• Valid North Carolina driver's license preferred• TB Screening or Test ResultsWe are an Equal Opportunity EmployerE-Verify, an online program which is administered through the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration, are used to verify employment eligibility. recblid by00zg26tq6hi3mxsmpeh3c4bsj8i0
