Location: Peachtree Orthopaedic Surgery Center North (Cumming) Job Type: Part time Your Impactful Role For licensed Registered Nurse: is responsible for assessing and evaluating surgical patients prior to the day of service to enhance patient experience and outcomes. For licensed LPN: is responsible for assisting in the collection of data. Understands safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damage or harm to personnel and patients. He/she has the ability to function in assigned areas of ASC as directed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Obtains and reviews One Medical Passports submitted by patients. Performs patient phone calls to provide appropriate pre-operative instructions. Documents information in patient chart as appropriate. Performs preoperative patient phone calls to conduct preadmission assessments and provides appropriate pre-operative instructions. (if OMP is not obtainable) Documents information in patient chart as appropriate. Obtains pertinent patient records prior to patient’s arrival for preoperative testing. Is knowledgeable of patient admission criteria. Compiles patient chart to ensure that all required documentation is immediately available (consents, orders, H/P, diagnostic studies, etc.). Reports test abnormalities in pre-op assessment, diagnostic studies, and any other pertinent information to surgeon, anesthesiologist, operating room staff, and other pre-operative area staff as necessary. Appropriately handles the disposal of bio-hazardous materials. Understands and performs proper technique of equipment in assigned work area. Adheres to ASC procedures, policies, and standards. Maintains area of Special Assignments. Responsible for training new employees. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Active Georgia RN or LPN Nursing License LPN or RN graduate of an accredited school. Previous Central Testing experience preferred. ACLS and BLS certification required. If not ACLS certified when hired, will obtain within three months of hire. This position requires involvement in preparation of State and AAAHC Surveys. Physical Demands and Work Environment : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee may be required to be on their feet much of the day and may need to push, pull, or transport patients on stretchers and in wheelchairs. These duties can be stressful, particularly when dealing with injured individuals. There is potential exposure to anesthetic gases, hazardous chemicals, blood and body fluids, sharps, and cleaning solutions. The employee frequently is required to move all extremities within a full range of motion, as well as stoop and bend at 90 degrees.
