PositionSummary: The ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor position will provide leadership at the buildinglaboratory level. The ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor will perform many of the same tasks as the LaboratoryChemist with the added responsibility of directing the day to day activities inthe laboratory. The ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor will also provide the immediate interface with theproduction team in the area for establishing priorities and scheduling of workthrough the laboratory. The ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining the tracking data forthe laboratory that they have responsibility for.EssentialAccountabilities:SafetyFunctionPerform all laboratory duties followingappropriate work instructions and procedures. Bring safety issues to the attention of the Laboratory Manager. Responsible for safely operatingequipment/instrumentation required for the laboratory to function. Oversee the general laboratory operation and insurethat operations in the laboratory are done under a safe manner.QualityFunctionProvide accurate laboratory analysisfollowing appropriate procedures. Providea review of the data output from the laboratory. Process data required for SQC and CoApreparation under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. Apprise laboratorymanager of opportunities for improvement in the laboratory. ProductivityFunctionCommunicate with production personneland Laboratory Manger to provide timely analysis, aid in the production ofquality material, and improve throughput. Meet minimum analysis requirements. Maintain schedule for completion of analysis. Provide the direct interface for productionto meet schedule requirements. Provide aresource for production to address any analytical questions in regards tolaboratory capability. Training,Education and Experience RequiredBachelor Degree in Chemistry or other technical fieldrequired.DetailedDescription of ActivitiesThe ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will be expected toperform the tasks of the Chemist with the additional responsibility forsupervising the work flow through the laboratory. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor willmaintain a safe work environment. The ICPMSMetal Laboratory Supervisor will complete all safety training in accordancewith the schedule. The daily activitiesfor the person in this position will be to stage and organize work flow throughthis laboratory. This will include boththe direct analysis of sample cylinders through the laboratory and also thedirecting of the other chemists and laboratory technicians. The ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor will ensure that the schedule for testing is meet for theanalysis of cylinders in the laboratory. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will be required to safely handlecylinders in accordance with work instructions. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will be required to troubleshootand maintain instruments in their respective laboratories. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor willinsure necessary spare parts are available for the continued operation of thelaboratory.The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor is responsible forkeeping the database up to date for tracking of cylinders through thelaboratory. The ICPMS Metal LaboratorySupervisor is responsible for filling out and maintaining the laboratorynotebooks for each analysis and overseeing that the other chemists in thelaboratory are maintaining adequate records. As these are shared resources they must sign and date thenotebooks. The ICPMS Metal LaboratorySupervisor will be responsible for keeping the productivity logs for thelaboratory that they are working in. TheICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for staging work in thisarea on a daily basis to meet the minimum analysis requirements of the area sothat cylinders move through in an efficient and timely manner. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor isresponsible for monitoring the productivity of the individual team members. The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will be expected tomaintain the instrumentation in the laboratory that they are responsiblefor. This will include troubleshootinginstrumentation and when necessary scheduling maintenance of theinstrumentation through the supplier. Uptime of the laboratory is a key metric for the ICPMS Metal LaboratorySupervisor to monitor and ensure that the laboratory has the appropriate backup for the instrumentation that is mission critical.The ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor will work withproduction and other laboratory personnel to effectively move test cylindersthrough the laboratory. ICPMS MetalLaboratory Supervisor must meet commitments for delivery dates. Once a schedule is in place it is theresponsibility of the ICPMS Metal Laboratory Supervisor to get that analysiscompleted. The ICPMS Metal LaboratorySupervisor will effectively communicate this schedule to the FacilityLaboratory Manager for communication to our internal and external customers.
