WE ARE HIRING JOIN OUR TEAM The City of Georgetown is now accepting applications for Police Corporal Under general supervision, patrols assigned areas of the city and responds to calls for service. Enforces all federal and state laws and city ordinances relating to public safety and welfare. Performs related law enforcement work as required. Work is reviewed regularly by the Sergeant. Reports to the Sergeant. Qualifications & Requirements: Vocational School Diploma in Criminal Justice supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the policing field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Ability to use a firearm. Special Requirements: Certified Police Officer Attain and remain current in all certifications described for eligibility for PoliceOfficer III and satisfactory completion of the required probationary period. Three (3) years as a police officer with at least six (6) months as a Police Officer with the Georgetown Police Department. Equivalent service time with another law enforcement agency in a similar job description may be utilized to meet or exceed the three (3) years requirement. No written disciplinary actions, disciplinary suspension and/or involuntarydemotion within the past twelve months that would exclude the candidate. P H YSIC A L R E Q UI R EME N T S A ND WO R K I NG E N V I R O N M E NT : Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment. Requires medium-to-heavy work that involves walking, standing, running, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting, pushing, or pulling objects, and also involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis and up to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Must be able to defend oneself from assault and to restrain suspects of varying weights.
