An integral part of our mission and practice is to develop partnerships with families and community organizations that prepare and empower children to embrace learning, a strong sense of self, and social connection as essential tools for growth and achievement.Overall ResponsibilityThe Pod (Infant/Toddler Classrooms) Supervisor is a key member of an administrative team that works together with Classroom Executives to support the mission and values of the Flance Center. The Pod Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the assigned pod, ensuring the quality and integrity of all aspects of the program in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State of Missouri and policies established by the Flance Center. The Pod Supervisor ensures that classroom executives provide warm, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate daily care for each infant, toddler, and young child within the Center. The Pod Supervisor will observe, model, supervise, and mentor regularly, provide information to others, and implement and maintain services within established guidelines and standards related to the safety, health, and hygiene of the children in the Center.Primary Interactions Provides daily supervision and instruction to assigned Classroom Executives and Assistance Classroom Executives. Supports, promotes, and develops education staff in their skills and knowledge in early childhood. Coaches and assists classroom executives with Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold, Conscious Discipline, ASQ assessments, lesson planning, classroom management, and identification of curriculum resources to improve instruction and help new teachers become successful. Supports the professional development of all education staff by delivering coaching, mentoring, training, and technical assistance. Builds relationships with education staff to establish an environment of trust and collaboration and provide emotional support through Flance's core value words: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, and Consistency. Meet as a team regularly with other Pod Supervisors and admin to problem solve. Seek advice and assistance from other Pod Supervisors to design appropriate intervention strategies. Interacts daily with the Program Director and other members of the Administrative team, training consultants, and others as required. Assesses classroom executive's performance (staff evaluation) and recommends future assessments to the education specialist and program director. Coaches and mentors educators through conferences, demonstrations, observations, and providing personal assistance. Provides guidance and ideas regarding classroom/time management, discipline, scheduling, planning, arranging the classroom's physical environment, transitions, daily routines, etc. Models developmentally appropriate practices and activities in all aspects of the job. Models and coaches preparing, set up, serve, and clean up of family-style meals and snacks. Implementation Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing of Flance's program and daily activities for children consistent with Flance's mission, Flance's Core Values as well as Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies, including setting individual and group goals on a regular basis. Ensures and oversees a safe, healthy and clean classroom environment in accordance with Flance policies, licensing and other regulations and best practices. Supports educators in parent and family responsibilities, including: Written-Infant/Toddler and verbal- Preschool [TT1] daily reports, Written and verbal Incident reports, home visits and parent-teacher conferences - minimum of 4 annually per child. Creates continuity for children and families by conducting daily check-ins and information sharing with Classroom Executive(s), supervisor(s) and others, as appropriate. Assists educations with Creative Curriculum implementation in accordance with MOA guidelines, daily Conscious Discipline modeling and coaching, teaching and modeling appropriate professional behavior. Provides orientation for new classroom executives (e.g., responsibilities, schedules, policies regarding involvement with children, etc.) for the purpose of providing classroom executives with information regarding program objectives, identifying training needs, and reviewing functions of a mentor. Submits individual professional goals or coaching plans to review with the program director, and assess teacher progress. Ensures the completion of required monthly paperwork assigned in accordance with federal and local regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards (observations, HV, PTO, etc.). Participates and verifies timely completion of developmental and socio-emotional assessments and provides appropriate assessment reports and feedback. Planning Identifies and requests needed professional development opportunities that address both current mentoring and coaching research and future instructional needs. Schedules and documents supervision of the staff, pod meetings, and additional meetings as appropriate. Assists in planning a comprehensive, multicultural program of child development that meets Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care Rules and Regulations, and State Quality Standards. Ensures lesson plans for the daily activities that stimulate learning in all the developmental areas; physical, social/emotional, cognitive, and language/literacy are posted and met. Assists in developing and planning for individualized activities for each child according to each child's learning style and developmental level and start the referral process if needed. Supervise the use of physical space so that classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds are clean and safe. Provide an attractive and welcoming environment in which learning is made visible through children's artwork or displays that promote a child's self-esteem. Supervisory and Administrator's Responsibilities: Supervises teaching staff for an assigned infant/toddler classrooms. Work closely with the Program Director to oversee all aspects of classroom program planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the Center's philosophy, developmentally appropriate practices, staff policies and procedures, CLASS, Environmental Rating Scales, MOA, and Head Start and Licensing regulations. Work in coordination with the program director to hire, train, mentor, and supervise all classroom executives including interviewing prospective employees. Monitor and communicate required maintenance of child ratios. Monitor Teaching Strategies Gold for the assigned pod. Attends all required training opportunities and staff meetings. Ensures the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records for each program child (hard copy format and electronic). Skills and Attributes ● Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing mentoring and coaching principles and reflective practices.● Ability to communicate with and maintain a welcoming and constructive relationship with children and adults. Use positive interpersonal communication skills.● Must be patient, nurturing, flexible, and dedicated; be willing to take responsibility and initiative; able to see the individuality in every teacher and child.● Intermediate to advanced computer skills, operating and navigating the internet and e‐mail, and other database software.● Committed to continuous learning and growth as a professional.● Ability to plan organize and adapt programs to different age groups.● Must have CPR and First Aid training/certification. Environmental Factors The pod leader primarily works in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and the office. Noise and activity levels can be high; children require constant supervision and cooperation by classroom executives. The position requires a health screen, TB test, Hepatitis A vaccinations, Covid vaccination(s) and annual background check (including fingerprinting). Flance Center is a busy, unique environment. Employees are expected to participate fully in the life of the Center. Because of the constant interaction with children, must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs. and be active in the classroom and outdoors (including sitting on the floor, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, stooping, moving about quickly, etc.) Education/Experience ● Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or another related field.
