ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY Surface Water Plant Operator Sandy Creek Water Treatment Plant - Leander SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain surface water treatment plants; ensure compliance with TCEQ/EPA regulations; regulate process controls; and maintain plant efficiency. This is accomplished by collecting samples; performing analyses on water samples for process monitoring and reportable analysis; monitoring the operation of the plant; adjusting plant valves, flows, and backwash schedules; adjusting chemical dosages as needed; running various analytical tests; calibrating and maintaining lab and equipment; entering data from lab analysis; and conducting local laboratory testing. Other responsibilities include assisting with training and mentoring less-experienced operators; working within budget guidelines; performing general and preventative plant maintenance; ensuring discharged water is good quality; ordering supplies and chemicals for treatment; properly maintaining buildings and grounds; maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment; and any other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in all sections of water treatment systems including materials, methods, and techniques used in construction, maintenance, and electrical repairs; vehicle maintenance and repair; methods, practices, and equipment used in a water laboratory; state and federal regulations regarding water treatment; and basic knowledge of chemistry; and safety procedures and first aid training. REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: . High school graduation, or its equivalent, and five years of experience in water treatment system operations; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities . POSTING DATE : October 10, 2022 - Open until filled. WORK SCHEDULE: This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty for emergency calls. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED : Current Texas driver's license and a good driving record are required. A C lass B or C Water License is preferred. BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, 457/401, Life Insurance, LTD, Wellness Programs, Tuition Reimbursement SALARY : Each of these positions is non-exempt. SALARY : Salary and position depend on qualifications. This is a non-exempt position. $24.19 to $30.84 per hour Lead Plant Operator Class A Water License $22.52 to $28.71 per hour Sr. Plant Operator Class B Water License $19.63 to $25.03 per hour Plant Operator Class C Water License BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY, EOE : The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin. Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
