Plant Controller

We are recruiting for a very specific position – Plant Controller – to help establish and manage our cost accounting and financial management processes. This position will be our key hire to finance/accounting and will be the cornerstone for developing this function. This role will report directly to the General Manager, be a key member of Merrimack leadership, and will actively interface with the DEKA team. Responsibilities: Working closely with the GM and DEKA’s financial accounting team, establish and manage processes for budget management, financial analysis and reporting, cost accounting, forecasting, and month/year end closing Cost Accounting: plan, collect and analyze data to determine the costs of business activities including component purchases, manufacturing expenses, capital equipment expenses, labor and overhead Work to set annual overhead rates which fully and accurately incorporate the most up to date operational drivers. Drive improvements in the Standard Costing system and proactively facilitate review of results and work with business team leadership to build additional reporting as required Financial Analysis and Reporting: review and report on various activities such as inventory management, production costs, budget management, cost variances, cash flow and balance sheet, profit and loss Diligently monitor costing and inventory transactions to ensure transactional integrity is maintained and respond to impromptu issues and questions as needed Budget Management: work with Merrimack team to establish budgets for ongoing production activities, and project specific requirements such as introducing new products or manufacturing processes Forecasting: work with the Merrimack and DEKA teams to forecast customer sales through Merrimack purchasing and production planning, and the related impact on cash flow Establish processes for and actively manage inter-company payables and receivables Period Closing: work with Merrimack team and DEKA financial accounting team to create processes for and execute month and year end closing Team Building: while developing and executing new processes work with the GM to determine what additional roles will be needed for Merrimack financial accounting team and when they will be needed. Be prepared to provide training, leadership and mentorship to new team members as they are added Continuous Improvement: continually look for opportunities to improve processes and business tools to allow us to more efficiently and effectively manage our company Qualifications: BA/BS in Finance/Accounting 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment Team player who prefers to take a collaborative approach in problem solving Intellectually curious and not afraid to delve into various operational processes Systems oriented with solid and demonstrable ERP experience as well as MS Office (particularly Excel) Strong business analysis and problem solving skills Experience leading teams is preferred Experience working in a contract manufacturing and/or startup environment is a plus Organized, detail oriented and self-directed, able to meet goals and deadlines without constant supervision Powered by JazzHR
